— SUPERIOR QUALITY
Premium Scantling & Face Laminated Lumber
When you are designing high-end windows or monumental doors, you are often looking for that perfect balance between breathtaking aesthetics and uncompromising structural integrity. At Wolf Lumber & Millwork, we provide the professional solution: Quality Scantlings — also known as face laminated lumber.
— What is a Scantling?
Engineered For
Performance And Precision
In architectural millwork, a scantling is a component created by face-laminating multiple layers of high-quality lumber. By bonding individual layers together, we create a “super-board” that is significantly more stable than a single thick piece of timber.
This process neutralizes the natural tensions found in wood, ensuring that even under heavy machining, the piece remains straight and true.
Engineered for performance and precision, our scantlings are the secret to achieving deep architectural profiles without sacrificing the long-term stability of the wood.
— The Case for Engineered Wood
Why Deep Profiling
Demands Scantlings
If your project requires deep ovolo profiles, complex sticking, or thick window sash parts, you need material with substantial bulk and stability. Using a single 16/4 (4-inch thick) piece of solid wood can be risky; it’s harder to dry evenly and more prone to hidden defects.
Our scantlings allow you to work with thicknesses up to 4 ¾ inches, providing a consistent, defect-free material that stands up to the most demanding profiles.
Up to 4 ¾” thick. Our scantlings provide the bulk and stability that solid lumber simply can’t match — with none of the drying defects or internal stress of a single thick board.
— IDEAL APPLICATIONS

Window Sashes & Frame
High-performance window sashes and frames requiring dimensional stability across seasonal changes.
Heavy-Duty Door Rails & Stiles
Door rails and stiles where deep profiles and long-term structural performance are non-negotiable.
Structural Architectural Columns
Columns and posts requiring a deep, dramatic profile with no risk of checking or twisting.

Window Sashes & Frame
Any application requiring substantial material depth that solid lumber cannot reliably provide.
—Engineering Advantage
We Don’t Just Glue Boards —
We Engineer Them
Our manufacturing process is designed to ensure that the bond is just as strong — if not stronger — than the wood fibers themselves.

Hydraulic Precision
To achieve a perfect lamination, pressure must be uniform and intense. Our scantlings are hydraulically pressed to ensure maximum glue pressure across the entire surface area. This eliminates air pockets and ensures a seamless bond that can withstand the rigors of heavy industrial shapers and moulders.

Type 1 Waterproof Glue
We understand that many of our products are destined for exterior use — facing the sun, rain, and snow. That’s why we exclusively use Type 1 waterproof glue for our laminations. This industrial-grade adhesive ensures the integrity of your door or window components, even in the harshest environments.
Whether You Need Domestic Hardwoods or Exotic Softwoods
We source the finest timber to ensure your scantlings are as beautiful as they are strong. If your project calls for something rare, other species are readily available upon request. We take pride in sourcing the exact grain and color profile required for your architectural vision.
