Our Moulding Profiles
To some trim might just look like necessary wood on the wall, but each profile has a specific job to do. Here is a breakdown of the core elements we manufacture:
Casing
Casing is the decorative moulding used to frame windows and doors. It is perhaps the most visible millwork in any home. It conceals the gap between the frame and the drywall while providing a decorative "picture frame" effect that draws attention to entryways and views.
Base
The base moulding (or baseboard) sits at the very bottom of the wall where it intersects the floor. While it protects the wall from kicks, office chairs, and vacuum cleaners, it also serves as a visual foundation. A tall, thick baseboard can make a room feel more grounded and expensive.
CHAIR RAIL
Typically installed 30" to 36" off the floor, the chair rail runs the perimeter of a room. Historically designed to protect walls from being scuffed by chair backs, it is now used as a sophisticated design element to separate different wall treatments—such as paint on top and wallpaper or wainscoting on the bottom.
Crown Molding
Crown is the "cherry on top" of a room's design. It is installed at the intersection of the wall and the ceiling. By softening the sharp 90-degree angle where the wall meets the ceiling, crown moulding creates a sense of height and architectural grandeur.
